June 2021 College Commit Round Up: 45 boys commit from the Deep South

Welcome to DSLR's NCAA monthly Commitment Roundup for June where we are pleased to report a total of 45 high school boys from the Deep South have committed to play college lacrosse. This month's report includes 1 new recruit who will be joining an NCAA D1 program and 3 commits who come from the 2022 class. In addition, we report 2 switched commitments and an honorable mention recruited out of Jamaica this month. Please note, our area of coverage in the Deep South consists of the 9 states east/northeast of Texas (AL, AR, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC, and TN).

Florida led all states with 20 new commits, followed by Georgia with 9, North Carolina with 7, South Carolina with 6, and 3 from Tennessee. North Carolina placed two '22 commits while South Carolina is home to the other. North Carolina placed the only D1 commit in June. The following is the list of the players from the Deep South who committed to college programs in June:

Josh Balcom - 2021 Attackman at Sarasota Military Academy in Sarasota committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Lourdes University (OH) in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

Ryan Blumthal - 2021 LSM/Midfielder at Riverview High School in Sarasota committed to play MCLA lacrosse at the University of South Florida (FL) in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference.

Anthony Broderick - 2021 Goaltender at Palm Beach Central High School in Wellington (Florida Aces) committed to play MCLA lacrosse at the University of South Florida (FL) in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference.

Reilly Cooper - 2021 Midfielder at Fleming Island High School in Fleming Island (Fleming Island Lax) committed to play MCLA lacrosse at the University of South Florida (FL) in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference.

Luigi De Cardenas - 2021 Attackman/Midfielder at Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach (FCA Lacrosse) committed to play MCLA lacrosse at the University of South Florida (FL) in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference. De Cardenas played Running Back and Outside Linebacker for the varsity football team at Cardinal Newman.

Trey Huggins - 2021 Midfielder at Fleming Island High School in Fleming Island (Fleming Island Lax) committed to play MCLA lacrosse at the University of South Florida (FL) in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference.

Chris Lee - 2021 Midfielder at Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando committed to play MCLA lacrosse at the University of South Florida (FL) in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference.

Chuck Lower - 2021 Defenseman/LSM at Durant High School in Plant City committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Webber International University (FL) in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Jonas May - 2021 Goaltender at Newberry High School in Newberry (Lacrosse Club Gainesville) committed to play DII lacrosse at Coker University (SC) in the South Atlantic Conference.

Jack Mulvey - 2021 Midfielder at The Bolles School in Jacksonville (CHOMP) committed to play MCLA lacrosse at Clemson University (SC) in the Atlantic Lacrosse Conference.

Jack Newell - 2021 Defenseman at Lake Nona High School in Orlando committed to play DII lacrosse at Flagler College (FL) in the Peach Belt Conference. Newell played Center for the varsity basketball team at Lake Nona.

Nathan Pepe - 2021 Goaltender at Bloomingdale High School in Valrico committed to play DIII lacrosse at Birmingham Southern College (AL) in the Southern Athletic Association (this commitment happened in January).

Refugio Perez - 2021 Face-Off Specialist at Wellington High School in Wellington (Ninja Lacrosse/Florida Aces) committed to play DII lacrosse at Palm Beach Atlantic Univerity (FL) in the Sunshine State Conference.

Devon Radock - 2021 Midfielder/Attackman at Sebastian River High School in Sebastian committed to play DIII lacrosse at Warren Wilson College (NC) who are Indepedent.

Joseph Ryan - 2021 Face-Off Specialist at Jensen Beach High School in Jensen Beach (FCA/TC Sailfish/Live Action Lacrosse) committed to play MCLA lacrosse at the University of South Florida (FL) in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference.

Jonathan Schrager - 2021 Attackman at Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs (Always Sunny Lacrosse) committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Webber International University (FL) in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Schrager played Strong Safety on the varsity football team at Lake Brantley and has also committed to play football at Webber International.

Paul Spada - 2021 Defenseman at Pompano Beach High School in Pompano Beach in Pompano Beach (Blue Roses Knights LC) committed to play MCLA lacrosse at the University of South Florida (FL) in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference.

Jared Weiss - 2021 Attackman at Viera High School in Viera (Viera Dirty Birds/Lacrosse Club Orlando) committed to play DII lacrosse in Conference Carolinas at Emmanuel College (GA).

Kyle Wiegand - 2021 Midfielder/LSM/SSDM at Sarasota Military Academy in Sarasota (True Florida Monsters) committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Webber International University (FL) in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Graeme Williamson - 2021 Midfielder/Attackman at Riverdale High School in Fort Myers (Ballistic Lacrosse) committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Morningside University (IA) in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Nicholas Charania - 2021 Defenseman/LSM at Greenbrier High School in Evans (Augusta Patriots) committed to play NAIA lacrosse at St. Andrews University (NC) in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Charania also played varsity football at Greenbrier.

Ryan Craig - 2021 Attackman at Parkview High School in Lilburn (Atlanta Empire Lacrosse) committed to play DII lacrosse at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (AL) in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Tyree Cummings - 2021 Defenseman at McEachern High School in Powder Springs committed to play lacrosse AND football at St. Andrews University (NC). Cummings played varsity football at McEachern and also wrestled.

William "Garrett" Mardis - 2021 Midfielder at Fayette County High School in Fayetteville committed to play DII lacrosse at Alderson Broaddus University (WV) in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Mardis also played Quarterback and Free Safety on the varsity football team at Greenbrier.

Landon Parker - 2021 LSM at Greenbrier High School in Evans (Augusta Patriots) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Piedmont College (GA) in the USA South Athletic Conference.

Matthew Parker - 2021 Midfielder at Greenbrier High School in Evans (Augusta Patriots) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Piedmont College (GA) in the USA South Athletic Conference.

Brice Peterson - 2021 Midfielder at Greenbrier High School in Evans (Augusta Patriots) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Brevard College (NC) in the USA South Athletic Conference.

Holden Samuels - 2021 Attackman/Midfielder at Sequoyah High School in Canton (Atlanta LC/Atlanta Kings/Thunder) committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Montreat College (NC) in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Parker Young - 2021 Midfielder/Attackman at Greenbrier High School in Evans (Augusta Patriots) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Piedmont College (GA) in the USA South Conference.

Changed commitments:

Nate Burt - 2021 Midfielder at Parkview High School in Lilburn (Atlanta Empire Lacrosse) changed his committment from Greensboro College (NC) to the University of Alabama in Huntsville in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Burt also played varsity football at Parkview.

Dylan Farley - 2021 Face-Off Specialist/Midfielder at The Westminster Schools in Atlanta (Thunder) changed his D1 committment from Harvard University (MA) to Loyola University (MD) in the Patriot League. Farley also played varsity football at Westminster.

Charlie Beam - 2021 Midfielder at Athens Drive Magnet High School in Raleigh committed to play DIII lacrosse at William Peace University (NC) in the USA South Athletic Conference.

Dylan Bryson - 2022 Attackman at North Raleigh Christian Academy in Raleigh/formerly at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia (Ohana Lacrosse Company, Red Devil United, UNRL) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Pfeiffer University (NC) in the USA South Athletic Conference.

Ethan Burke - 2021 Midfielder at Fuquay-Varina High School in Fuquay-Varina (Goblin Lacrosse) committed to play DII lacrosse in Conference Carolinas at Barton College (NC). Burke also played Wide Receiver and Tight End for the varsity football team at Fuquay-Varina.

Ryan Curry - 2022 Midfielder at Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte (Team 91 Charlotte 24/7) committed to play D1 lacrosse at Bellarmine University (KY) in the Southern Conference. Curry also played Wide Receiver for the varsity football team at Ardrey Kell.

Jordan Dash - 2021 Attackman and Midfielder at Charles E. Jordan High School in Durham (Carolina Hilltopper Lacrosse) committed to play DII lacrosse at Catawba College (NC) in the South Atlantic Conference.

Kolson Huff - 2021 Attackman at Holly Springs High School in Holly Springs (Team 91 Carolina) committed to play DII lacrosse at Lenoir-Rhyne University (NC) in the South Atlantic Conference.

Noah Misenheimer - 2021 Attackman at E.A. Laney High School in Wilmington (Blackhawks) committed to play DII lacrosse at Caldwell University (NJ) in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

Nicholas Coughlin - 2021 Goaltender at Dorman High School in Roebuck committed to play DII lacrosse at Limestone University (SC) in the South Atlantic Conference (this commitment happened in April).

Ernie Del Sol - 2021 Midfielder at Dorman High School in Roebuck committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Montreat College (NC) in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (this commitment happened in January).

Seth Freeman - 2021 Defenseman and LSM at Dorman High School in Roebuck committed to play DII lacrosse at Newberry College (SC) in the South Atlantic Conference (this commitment happened in March).

Owen Heller - 2021 Face-off Specialist and Midfielder at Blythewood High School in Blythewood committed to play NAIA lacrosse at St. Andrews University (NC) in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

E.J. Lundy - 2021 Defenseman and LSM at Wade Hampton High School in Greenville committed to play DIII lacrosse at Methodist University (NC) in the USA South Athletic Conference.

Kieran Maurer - 2022 Defenseman at Wando High School in Mt. Pleasant (Charleston Elite) committed to play DII lacrosse at Anderson University (SC) in the South Atlantic Conference.

Andrew Best - 2021 Defenseman and LSM at Maryville High School in Maryville (Blount County Bulldogs) committed to play MCLA lacrosse at the University of Tennessee (TN) in the Atlantic Lacrosse Conference.

Cooper Harris - 2021 Midfielder at Nolensville High School in Nolensville committed to play NAIA lacrosse at the University of the Cumberlands (KY) in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Taylor Long - 2021 Defenseman and LSM at Nolensville High School in Nolensville committed to play NAIA lacrosse at the University of the Cumberlands (KY) in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Honorable Mention from Jamaica:

Ronaldo Williams - Midfielder from St. Andrew Parish in Jamaica (Jamaica U-21 National Team) committed to play DII lacrosse in Conference Carolinas at Chowan University (NC).
