Welcome to Episode 6 of the Uncommitted 24, presented by Team 24 Lacrosse, where today we are going to take our first look at the 2024 class introducing the top 24 uncommitted players from our region. In the following weeks we will be adding 24 names at a time to the list so make sure you add this article to your digital bookmark and check back on it often so you don't miss Episode 7.
With the September 1st open period finally upon us, top recruit's are being contacted as college coaches are scrambling to try to get the verbals of their favorite players! We have taken a long hard look at the junior class from all over our 9 states to determine who was likely getting contacted as soon as the open period began this morning at 12:01am. Please note, this is not a ranking of any sort, it is simply a list of the top 24 kids who we have seen play (sometimes a lot more then the others who will be added later) and we feel confident in saying that they have proven to us they have the skillset, talent and ability to play well at the next level, and we fully expect all 24 of them to garner a lot of attention from college coaches when the open period officially begins.
So far the only 2024 with ties to the south to commit to a service academy has been Liam Gregorek from Georgia Tigers Elite who announced his commitment to Navy Lacrosse on July 1 (the day the open period begins for service academies). Also, Lake Mary's Koby White re-classed to 2024 when/around the time he committed to Syracuse University back in March, otherwise the field is wide open for 2024's and there are a lot of other great players in the class, so let's get right into who we feel will be the hottest recruits from the Deep South when the September 1st open period begins:
Attackmen
(Top 7)
Zach Chari
Attackman
McCallie School in Chattanooga, TN Thunder Blue
Nation United
Zach uses his thick 200+ pound frame to bull his way through opposing defenses with ease displaying great hands and balance while dodging with great vision when setting up scoring opportunities. Chari has a nice combination of speed and athleticism mixed with physicality that they certainly are looking for at the next level. Never seems to have a quiet outing even when playing up a division at major national tournaments. Zach also plays varsity football at McCallie School. He will definitely be one of the most prized recruits from the Deep South and some might argue he is the best southern 2024 from the region PERIOD.
Braedon Chayes
Attackman
Pine Lakes Prepraratory in Mooresville, NC
Carolina Miners
Braedon is a lefty Attackman who possesses great size which he likes to use when dodging from X. He doesn't need very much separation when passing GLE coming back upfield to pick a corner or bounce one passed the goalie. Chayes also has a heavy shot from the oustide and works well off-ball too, but he becomes super dangerous anytime he gets the ball in his stick with his finishing ability around the crease. Dynamic play making ability. Has the grades and size to expect some big time contacts on Thursday.
Nick George
Attackman
The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT
Nationals LC
Sweetlax Florida
Nick uses his speed and quickness which he combines with silky smooth hands to give his defenders fits when trying to prevent him from scoring. Great balance helps him to redirect quickly throwing opponents off balance or forcing them to play flat footed. Good motor, smart player, even though he lacks size, he has the speed and toughness to garner looks from the best programs in the country. George also plays varsity football at Hotchkiss.
Lleyton Hall
Attackman
Jesuit High School in Tampa, FL
3d Gulf Coast
3d Florida
Legends National
4 Leaf
True IL Doughboys (Box)
Lleyton is an expert crease Attackman who works a lot off-ball, always lurking, waiting to slip his way into a crease in the defense for a quick scoring opportunity. Very consistent player, crafty on the inside, will become a better outside shooter with maturity. Doesn't shy away from physicality which is likely a trait of also playing Box Lacrosse, which definitely helps him produce while working in tight spaces. We are fully expecting Hall to mature into a goal scoring machine at the next level.
Anthony Lattero
Attackman
Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, TN
Nationals LC
Team Eire
Lattero is a dynamic Attackman whose quick bursts can put defenders on skates, goes 0-60 faster than a Maserati. Loves to take the ball and dodge, in limited action we saw him attacking from X, but in film it seems like he can isolate and go from anywhere in the offensive set. Big outside shot. Plenty of talent here.
Jack Ransom
Attackman
Charlotte Catholic High School in Charlotte, NC
Team 91 South
Team 91 Charlotte Blue
Jack can be a lot to handle for opposing defenses and while he's a true goal scorer, he also sees the field very well and can dish to the open teammate, as easily as, bury it himself. Ransom is very creative in traffic and finishes in a variety of ways including on the backhand. Widely regarded as having one of the best shots in the class he is going to be garnering attention this week and beyond. He is considered one of the best 2024's recruits out of the South and for good reason.
Brevin Wilson
Attackman
Cannon School in Concord, NC
Carolina Miners
Carolina Gold
Brevin has electric talent when dodging but can be just as dangerous and effective playing off-ball patiently waiting for a seam to expose a weakness. Can work from anywhere on the offensive set. The 5'7" Attackman is quick enough to dodge from X and tough enough to take the abuse getting to the rack. He is a multi-sport athlete playing basketball and soccer at Cannon and has a nose for big plays, he also doesn't appear to shy away from pressure situations and would be the player you look to with the game on the line. Wilson is definitely one of our favorite juniors and is sure to hear from coaches today.
Midfielders
(Top 4)
Jack Fiordalis
Midfielder
Lake Highland Preparatory School in Orlando, FL
Sweetlax National
Sweetlax Florida
Jack is an extremely athletic Midfielder who excels on both sides of the ball. As capable as he is to pump the net dodging and shooting on the run, he also can be patient working picks and getting others involved. Strong wing play and defense will make him appetizing for any coach looking for a complete do it all 2 way midfielder. Fiordalis has also played football at Lake Highland Prep.
Caden Harshbarger
Midfielder
Lake Mary High School in Lake Mary, FL
Sweetlax National
Sweetlax Florida
Lacrosse Club Orlando
A lot of buzz around Harshbarger who is a dynamic athlete with a quick change of directions which force defenses to slide early. Stud on the defensive side of the ball, possesses blazing speed, gets to gb's off the wing. Caden is a smooth operator with the ball in his stick, but he always seems in control as if the game moves slower for him. Plays varsity football at Lake Mary. Not only considered one of the best 2024's in the south but considered one of the best in the nation. Big time recruit here.
Jackson Spells
Midfielder
Green Level High School in Cary, NC
Team 91 South
Team 91 Carolina
Nation United
Spells has decent size and plays with a physical style but make no mistake, he can shake and bake with the rest of them making defenses uncomfortable and creating movement. He is also a menace on the defensive side of the ball and will cause plenty of trouble in transition. Possesses very good speed, and his fast bursts may be compliments to his work in Indoor Track at Green Level. Exciting playmaker who has the tools be a real difference maker.
William Swartz
Midfielder
Cannon School in Concord, NC
Carolina Miners
Lax Mafia
Swartz already possesses the size of a high level D1 Midfielder and is very athletic with quick feet and pretty good hands, he draws the slide setting the defense in motion when he gets the ball. Plays aggressive in transition and showcases a strong shot on the run that seems to deceive goalies. William also plays varsity soccer at Cannon. He should ripen with maturity and will definitely be getting some offers to play in college.
Face-off Specialists
(Top 3)
Lad Harper
Face-off Specialist
Ponte Vedra High School in Ponte Vedra, FL
Next Level
Team South (NASG)
Lad has been in the spotlight for quite some time as one of the best Face-off Specialists in Florida and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. Uses great form, gets the ball out quick and has the ability to go downhill when he comes out with it. Seems to get better as games wear on. Good ability to counter against better competition. He is surely on a lot of radars around the country.
Ethan Kraske
Face-off Specialist
Wakefield High School in Raleigh, NC
Team 91 National
Team 91 South
Team 91 Carolina
Kraske has been one of the most dominant FOGO's in the region for the last few years as he uses a quick pinch and pop to dominate the X seemingly at will. Ethan is going to get a lot of attention from college coaches locally and beyond.
John Scarelli
Face-off Specialist
Lake Mary High School in Lake Mary, FL
Hagerty High School in Oviedo, FL
Sweetlax Florida
Lacrosse Club Orlando
FOA Florida
Another beast at the face-off dot Scarelli doesn't seem to slow down as the game progresses. Good athleticism makes him dangerous with the ball in his stick on the offensive side. Played running back at Hagerty High School last year and plans to play varsity football at Lake Mary next year.
Long Stick Middies
(Top 2)
Marcus Acevedo
LSM/Defenseman
Boys' Latin School in Baltimore, MD St. John Paul II Academy in Boca Raton, FL
Nationals LC
Baltimore Crabs
True National
Lax Mafia
Team Eire
Acevedo has nice size and speed and can be a threat anywhere on the field. He is good on the wing scooping ground balls and throwing dart passes in transition. Long arms give him the ability to land takeaway checks, his size measures up nicely with what college coaches hope for at the highest levels. Has developed by competing against top competition for a long time.
Dominick Deering
Defenseman/LSM
Saint Andrews School in Boca Raton, FL
St. John Paul II Academy in Boca Raton, FL
Sweetlax Florida
True National
Lax Mafia
Team Eire
Team Florida (NASG)
Dominick seems to have all the tools to play defense at the next level. Plays with high energy and is big trouble on ball where he uses his physicality to disrupt plays, likes to hit. Can put the ball on the carpet, scoop and get it upfield in transition. Big role to fill on varsity with 5 star defensive playmaker Sean Jordan leaving for Harvard but Deering should be ready to fill those shoes and lead the Scots defensive unit this year. Not quite the shooter Jordan is, but he's getting there. Plays on the varsity football team at Saint Andrews.
Defensemen
(Top 4)
Mason Hudson
Defenseman
Saint Andrews School in Boca Raton, FL
True National
True Florida
Florida LC
Ohana Lacrosse Co.
Quietly impressive. Mason goes about his business on the field in a non-descript manner but don't let that fool you this kid is still fierce on the defensive end. He uses his long reach to disrupt ball carriers and press out. He is also a very strong off-ball player but our favorite part of his game is his stick checking ability, he doesn't overthrow them, but he gets the ball on the carpet with a high percentage. Good hands to get things moving the other way and makes good decisions when he has the ball in his stick. DSLR is expecting him to mature more as he progresses through his junior and senior seasons and we look forward to watching him blossom into a dynamic defensive player.
Ben Maynor
Defenseman/SSDM
Cannon School in Concord, NC Carolina Miners
Carolina Gold
Maynor has nice size which he uses to cause havoc on opposing offenses. He plays fast and presses hard helping his defense to cause turnovers, he can clear on his own and will shoot and score if you don't force him to get rid of it. Big talent who was very impressive last night at the Inside Lacrosse Elite 8.
Tanner Parlette
Defenseman
Sweetlax National
Sweetlax Florida
PV Sand Gnats
Tanner has nice size to go with good footwork, balance and agility making him a potential difference maker in college. Can matchup with anyone thrown his way.
Colin Wade
Defenseman
Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, FL
Sweetlax National
Sweetlax Florida
Palm Beach Revolution
91 Florida
Colin is a menace on the defensive side of the ball where he uses his size and physicality to harass ball carriers. His long reach helps him block passing lanes, he's aggressive and also loves to press his man. Good hands when the ball gets in his stick. Wade should be getting serious looks.
Goaltenders
(Top 4)
Troy Capstraw
Goaltender
Daphne High School in Daphne, AL
Lower Alabama Lacrosse
Nationals LC
Virginia LC Blue Crabs
Lax Mafia
Team Eire
Capstraw has been on our radar for the last couple of years as his size and quick hands are head turning. Currently listed at 6'5" the big fella has cat-like reflexes in cage and does a nice job in the clearing game. Troy is considered a top 10 goaltender in the 2024 class and we can see why. Coaches must be salivating at his combination of speed and power. DSLR is very excited to have 2 big time goaltending recruits coming out of the great state of Alabama in the '23 and '24 classes with Anderson Moore already committing to Georgetown last September. We expect Capstraw to get some D1 offers soon after the period opens.
Isaac Farmer
Goaltender
IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL
3d Florida
Sweetlax Florida
Team Florida (NASG)
Farmer has great size and quickness and is vocal in the cage. He puts on a display in tight with acrobatic saves. He is no doubt on the radar throughout the country.
Zach Lewis
Goaltender
The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT
Western High School in Davie, FL
Sweetlax Florida
Sweetlax Black
3d New England
True Empire
Goaliesmith
Lewis is a big favorite of ours from his days at Western, and even though we haven't seen him in a little while, we are sure he is progressing nicely at Hotchkiss. Zach is an incredible goalie who makes stunning saves look easy and is also very good on the clear game. Has a flair for making dramatic saves in tight.
Conor Nelson
Goaltender
Cannon School in Concord, NC
Carolina Miners
Conor is a workhorse who never seems to tire in the cage and is a catalyst behind the success of the '24 Miners. Goes about his business in an unassuming fashion but this kid gets it done, making acrobatic saves look like child's play. Does a good job on his clear game. Doesn't get rattled when he gets beat or his team is down, remains confident and leads the comeback. No doubt this kid has everything needed to play at the next level.
Some will be committing very soon, some not for awhile, listen to your gut, if you got the offer of your dreams and you know it, go ahead and commit, if you're not sure, be patient, let time help your consideration process. Good Luck 2024s! Check back in soon to catch the next grouping of 24 southern recruits who show up in Episode 7 of the Uncommitted 24.
